According to Edith Reiter's 2014 book, this instrument was completed on 14 January 1905 and sold to a customer whose location remains unknown.
Howe & Hurd (2004) describe heckelphone #3 as a model 36a. As of their writing, it was part of the collection of the Musical Instrument Museum in Poznan (Poland), inventory number no. MNP I-432; and as of 2020, it is still located there. The history of this instrument prior to its acquisition by the museum in 1959 remains unclear.
